We are happy to announce that our first trail work hitch of the summer was a grand success. We were able to clear and brush eight miles of trail on either side of the Gunbarrel Slide area along the South Kelsey Trail. This means that between last summer and this summer the entire trail has been brushed from the Buck Creek Shelter to the ridge below Baldy Peak.
While there is still a lot of work to do, including multiple large trees across the trail, the brush is under control! Because of last year’s fires and long-term lack of maintenance, please continue to use caution on this section of trail, particularly between Baldy and Harrington Lake. That being said, the trail is now in better shape than it has been in at least 20 years!
